| International innovation and development are two of the anchor points for this edition of the DERBI competitiveness cluster international conference. Firstly Innovation: As you will see with the launch of this newsletter which will appear every month until the opening of the DERBI 2008 international conference. This electronic newsletter will give you up to date news about the DERBI competitiveness cluster as well as the main information concerning the conference: News, the schedule, the participants, the business meetings (see the article “Focus on ” in the first publication of this newsletter) etc. Then more innovation: The DERBI competitiveness cluster is proud to welcome the second edition of the PREBAT encounters (French Programme for Research and Experimentation in the area of Building Energy) from the 3rd to the 5th of June 2008 as well as for the opening of the DERBI 2008 international conference. Begun by the ANR (the French national research agency), the ADEME (French environmental and energy control agency) and the PUCA (French urbanism construction and architectural plan), these encounters will unite 600 European specialists from the area of building energy. The high-level of organisation and the quality of the interventions during the DERBI 2007 international conference as well as recognition of the DERBI competitiveness cluster expertise in the sector of building energy efficiency are just some of the main reasons for holding this event in Perpignan. And finally international development: This year the conference will welcome California, a state renowned for its initiatives and the dynamism of its small and medium enterprises in the renewable energy resources domain.
